V SPIE Student Chapters Meeting

The meeting took place in the SPb SU ITMO on the 5th of September 2006 during the ICO Topical Meeting on Optoinformatics/Information Photonics http://ysa.ifmo.ru/tmo2006/. All events of ICO Topical Meeting were available to participants of V SPIE Student Chapters Meeting. Among them a talk of Prof. H.John Caulfield "Holography and Artificial Color", which was supported by the SPIE Visiting Lecturer Program.

Participants of the meeting presented scientific reports on this conference. (Modeling by Fourier-Holography Technique: Implementation of Non-Monotonic Reasoning, Interaction of Counter-Propagating Femtosecond Pulses with Continuum Spectra, Extended Information Content in Digital Holography by Synthetic Aperture DH and Multiexposure DH, Digital Holographic Tomograph - the Tool for 3D Amplitude-Phase Microobject Investigations, Femtosecond Multifilamentation in Dispersive Medium)

During the meeting representatives of chapters presented reports about their SPIE Student Chapters activity. The following questions were discussed:

  • the cooperation between chapters
  • work with schoolboys, first-year students
  • necessity of informal contact

During informal part of the meeting different scientific directions, possibility of using various resources received from SPIE were discussed. Lidiya Bol'basova (representative of Tomsk SPIE Student Chapter) suggested to send members of chapters to the international trips together for the higher security level, solving different questions and difficulties  jointly.
